A Legend in Time

In the original writing and rough recordings, this song was titled “Shine” and was inspired by my favorite Sunday School song from childhood. As I was writing the chorus, it just felt like it was missing a final line which is how “A Legend in Time” came about. When I was about five years old, I began riding horses competitively and there was one retired racehorse who was a local legend in the barn. Later into my teens, I was able to purchase him and rode for several years before returning him to his original owner for retirement. His track name was “A Legend in Time” and I’ve always thought that was so clever. It felt like a full circle moment when we recorded the vocals and I knew we had the title of the album.

I’m excited to look back in time at this song; at this project in whole, when years have passed and life has gone a different direction. My hope to everyone who listens to this song is to inspire the shine of self-confidence. Everyone of us has a beautifully unique story and no one should ever feel like they have to dim themselves to fit in. So put on your heart sunglasses and shine, baby, shine.
