Things You’d Say

“Things You’d Say” was lyrically written in September 2021 via voice memo. The first lines I came up with were “He flirts with anything that walks, he thinks he’s the man but can’t talk the talk”. Fast forward to recording in January 2023, I was able to rework the lyrics to really touch on a subject that sadly a lot of people face today. Being in your 20’s is hard, you’re really trying to figure out who you are and who you want to become. Add dating into the mix and boy do we have a lot to overcome.

“Things You’d Say” is written from the perspective of having a partner that says one thing but does the opposite. A partner who makes you think that you are responsible for the things they do and the ways that they hurt you, a partner who makes you feel like the world and then makes you feel nothing. A partner who makes you feel crazy, insecure, and unappreciated. Part of growth is being able to say when you’ve had enough of tolerating the bare minimum and having the strength to walk away in your worth. My hope is that we start to recognize that words matter; actions matter. Honesty is always the best policy.
